ramblings, stories, photos, rants and ravings from James and Penelope, the skipper and first mate of Alizée, a 2001 Cabo Rico 36, who sail, are dragon boaters and otherwise mess about on boats, read, write, volunteer, travel occasionally and otherwise enjoy life to the fullest, and whose skipper plays jazz piano in his quintet All That Jazz.
We spent a week on the boat over the weekend before and through July 4th. Had a great cruise to Petaluma with our Encinal YC friends. See Spindrift's log for our story.

James is retired from academia after over thirty years teaching history, he spends as much time as possible sailing with his wife and true love Penelope. This plus a bit of writing and reading to keep the mind alive, some travel, and making music makes life rich and sometimes unpredictable.

Nice Trip! Sounds fun! I have a friend who lives out Petaluma way. She told me we should come up that way, the town is a nice place to visit with all the upgrades & shops. My only concern was the river trip up there. I've heard of many running aground. Nice to hear a first hand account of the upstream passage. I'm thinking of a Napa run in the fall and saving Petaluma for next year.
